A short film mapping the Winooski River in Vermont from 1900 to the present, built from digitized archival maps and field recordings along its course.
The Winooski River was once vital to the Abenaki people, carrying social movement through the Lake Champlain basin. Since colonization it has been reshaped by electricity, gas, roads and private ownership.
The film builds a digital map of the river from 1900 to now. Historical maps were digitized and archived to reconstruct the river's successive states, and audio recorded at locations along its course gives voice to its inhabitants, human and non-human.
